Who We Are

Cascade Collie Rescue was established by individuals who have had experience with the rescue of Collies from rescues involving large numbers of dogs. Through our experiences with these rescues and the knowledgeable people who facilitated them, we were encouraged to establish a legal, non-profit purebred Collie rescue in the state of Oregon. The founders have experience with dogs of several breeds and with the more holistic veterinary care and positive reinforcement training that promotes an all around healthier and happier Collie.

We provide shelter and care to purebred Collies which have been abandoned or turned in to shelters. The Collies are placed in temporary foster homes until a permanent home can be found. We will also assist individual owners in placing their Collies if, for some reason, they are no longer able to keep and care for them. Our commitment is to place the Collies in the best possible permanent home to give them a second chance in life. Prospective families that wish to adopt a Collie will be interviewed and a home visit will be conducted. Basic information about the family, pet ownership history and why they want a Collie is required. Our goal is to achieve a successful match between the Collie and the adopting family. We want a happy ending to every rescue story, and part of that process is selecting a suitable Collie to fit into the lifestyle and needs of the adopting family.  Each rescued Collie has a modest adoption fee which covers a portion of the dog's expenses. Donations are always needed and gratefully accepted.

All rescued Collies will receive whatever veterinary care, treatment and grooming necessary for the well-being of that individual dog. All Collies released from rescue will be spayed or neutered before going to their new homes. The recent changes in vaccination protocol and the studies now available concerning the sensitivity of some Collies to vaccinations, mean that not all Collies will be given vaccinations or medications. Veterinary treatment will vary with each individual Collie.

We are proud to be approved and affiliated with the Collie Club of America's Collie Rescue Foundation Inc.
